Top Five Face Masks

I fell in love with face masks beginning of 2016. Before that, I really didn’t see the point in them. As a facialist, the standard routine was at the end of a facial you put on a face mask. It has become so integrated in the facial industry that you really can’t get away without doing one. However, this is changing. Now you can put on up to three in a treatment, at different times, areas and even under lights. 👀

Prior to 2016 I was not that impressed with the available options of masks and I figured your daily routine should be doing the job and not a mask.

I think my opinion changed when I started using one particular mask that I will show you because it truly made a difference, and also because I started to play with DIY home ingredients like apple cider and honey.

I would like to add before I start, that these really are our favourite masks and I am not just paging through my coffee desk magazine saying eeni meeni miney mo. We have tried all these mask and we love them.

SO WILL YOU!

Vestige Verdant €72.00

Available online and from Pfeffer Sal in London.

This was my game changer mask. It draws out congestion like a brand new Dyson vacuum and it has new age ingredients that will make glycolic acid and salicylic acid seem like powdered eggs.

What they say:

Made from extremely rare organic peat untouched for thousands of years and filled with reinvigorating bioactive ingredients with the highest organic detox abilities known to modern day science.

Seriously, if you have acne, breakouts or bumpy skin this is your potion. Also great if you have sensitive skin and need to deal with congestion.

Estee Lauder Concentrated Recovery Power Foil Masks 4 Masks: £60.00

Do not be alarmed – the cost brought tears to our eyes too, but we can guarantee you will not be abducted by aliens with this mask. Jokes aside when I first tried this mask I fell in love. If you have an event, wedding or want to splurge, this is the mask.

Victoria Beckham loves it and so do we. Proof?

It says keep on for ten minutes but we say just leave it on for as long as possible. Throw it in the fridge prior if you want to de-puff.

What they say:

Starting tonight, reset the look of your skin after the visible assaults of modern life with this innovative weekly treatment mask. Instantly, skin looks fresher, renewed. Our Worldwide First: PowerFoil. High-performance foil-backed sheet mask creates a protective barrier, allowing our potent technologies to penetrate fast and deep within skin’s surface and helping to lock in moisture.2X Hyaluronic Acid. LUSH Mask of Magnamity £12.50

Ali cannot get enough of this mask. The moment she thinks she has a spot coming, out comes her trusted pot of green Lush mask. As far as she’s concerned, give it to your friends, family, aunts and uncles for Christmas. Honestly it is just the best and you can use it as much or as little as you like. It will leave your skin looking sparkling and bright, smooth and silky… alright Ali we get it. Also it won’t break the bank.

What they say:

This tingly, minty face and body mask was formulated to be intensely cleansing but never harsh or abrasive. Kaolin clay and peppermint oil rid your pores of debris, giving you a delightfully tingly clean sensation. We add loads of ground aduki beans to exfoliate flaky or dry skin, vanilla absolute to calm redness and honey to soothe and moisturize.

Smooth mask all over your face, avoiding the eye area (it’s a bit minty so you don’t want your eyes watering all over the place like you’re watching Marley and Me). Leave on for 15 minutes then rinse off with warm water, massaging as you go.
Don’t be alarmed as the mask dries and you can’t move your face. Once off your skin will feel refreshed and amazing and moveable.

Omorovicza Gold Lifting Mask £115.00

Yikes that’s expensive. However not as expensive as Botox and fillers every three months. It lasts and you do not need a lot. I introduced the brand to my clinic in Austria and this mask is definitely a favourite. If you are concerned with ageing and want to tackle it head on then this is a great choice.

What they say:

Nourishing and velvety, this rose-scented express lifting mask gives a sensation of instant tightening. It also provides long-lasting hydration while ingeniously blurring the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Anti-inflammatory coilloidal gold heals Micro-damage and heals skin and Omorovicza’s patented Hydro Mineral Transference™ system, leaves skin firmer, more supple and younger-looking.

Skin Journals Magic Make It Yourself Mask

My best masks are the ones I make myself. Mainly I love the freshness and pureness of homemade masks but also because it is fun and there are so many different masks you can make. Our Magic Mask is a favourite but if you don’t have all the ingredients send us a quick message and we will give you some options.

Magic Mask:

2 Tsp Greek Yogurt

1/2 Tsp Turmeric

1/2 Tsp  Linseed / Pumpkin/ Coconut oil

1/2 Tsp Lemon Juice

5 Blueberries or Raspberries

Smash it all together and then smother on face neck and chest for 15 mins.

It is a pleasure!
